History and Comment
About ten years ago I sold some property and began a project to hand make clothing in Chile. The concept was to make the finest hand made clothing in the poorest area of Chile and in turn sell them to the wealthiest men in America. I had the idealistic hope to use the profits build schools and better the lives of the people that made the clothes.
As you may know there are very few tailors that can actually make clothes by hand. It requires a great deal of specific knowledge plus the talent to sew well. We spent the first five years training the shop to make a form of hand made suit that is specific to the high end clothing business. About 4 years ago we opened a retail store. Unfortunately in the first moths of opening we were given notice that the building owner had defaulted on the buildings mortgage. Our store as well as all the other tenants of this 7 story building lost our leases.
In 2008 I closed our shop in Chile. In order to put to best use the property we had in Chile we placed the tailoring equipment in small portion of the property and built a Pizza parlor.
This concept evolved from this experience.
