Mentor Eligibility Requirements
1 Be at least 21 years of age
·2 Reside in the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area or…
·3 Reside in the Triad or Triangle area of North Carolina
·4 Be willing to adhere to all DINAO Mentoring Program policies and procedures
·5 Agree to a one-year commitment to the program
·6 Commit to spending a minimum of eight hours a month with the mentee
·7 Be willing to communicate with the mentee weekly
·8 Complete the screening procedure
·9 Agree to attend mentor trainings as required
·10 Be willing to communicate regularly with the Program Coordinator and submit monthly meeting and activity information
·11 Have access to an automobile or reliable transportation
·12 Have a current driver’s license, auto insurance, and good driving record
·13 Have a clean criminal history
·14 Have never been accused, arrested, charged, or convicted of child abuse or molestation
·1 Not be a convicted felon. If the applicant has been convicted of a felony then they may be considered only after a period of seven years with demonstrated good behavior and an appropriate and corrective attitude regarding past behaviors.
·2 Not be a user of illicit drugs
·3 Not use alcohol or controlled substances in an excessive or inappropriate manner
·4 Not be currently in treatment for substance abuse. If a substance abuse problem has occurred in the past the applicant must have completed a non-addictive period of at least five years
·5 Not have falsified information during the course of the screening process
